Did you know that there is a color of the year?  (I didn't...)

They're made with shea butter and scented with a light honeysuckle and a hint of champagne- light and ready for spring.

Soapy Inspiration- Ribbon!

I'm a bit of a scrapbook junkie, and I've got all kinds of papers and glitters markers and doodads in my craft room.

One of my favorite things to scrap with is ribbon...

...and this is the last tidbit of one of my favorite rolls.  And then I thought... hey, that would make a great soap!

Aren't they cheery?

I used a sweet, floral scent with notes of magnolia and lilies... I am so ready for spring!

Soapy Inspiration- Sushi

We love sushi!

And while good sushi is a little hard to come by here in this little town in south central Texas (except for here- where my hubby takes me on my birthday and our anniversary!), it still served as inspiration this week for some soap!

Scented with Wasabi fragrance, of course!

Soapy Inspiration- Candy Corn

My husband *loves* candy corn.  Every Halloween I buy him a bag and question his sense of taste.

But they are pretty, and so... another soapy inspiration!

I know, I know... I got the shape wrong :)

And since the real thing smells like, well, nothing, I took a few liberties and created a sweet citrus and lemon essential oil mixed fragrance for these look alikes.  Available in our Etsy Shop!

Soapy Inspiration- Raspberries and Limes

The raspberries at my local grocery store have been fantastic the past few weeks- sweet, juicy, and gorgeous!

They served as my soapy inspiration this week- Raspberry Lime Shea Butter Soap!   

     

Simple and sweet, just like their inspiration.  And the scent- sun ripened raspberries and fresh lime... yum!

Beach Combing... Soapy Inspiration

I know I've mentioned this before, but I love beach combing!  Leave your shoes at the edge of the surf and stroll up and down the beach in search of treasures from the sea.

This is my soapy take on beach combing...

The flip flops are actually mini erasers embedded in the soap... I love them!  I created the "sand" by adding a bit of ground apricot seed to some goat's milk soap.  Pretty cute, huh?


      

Hill Country Peaches- Soapy Inspiration

It's peach season here in the Texas Hill Country!

Between droughts and late freezes, this is the first year we've had a good crop in a while.  A friend of mine dropped off a basket full today...

Aren't they gorgeous?

And they inspired these Peaches and Cream soaps:

Scented with Ginger Peach and a bit of Vanilla- fruity and scrumptious!




  

Soapy Inspirations- Birthday Carrot Cake

Hubby was out of town this weekend on business, and it was his birthday!  So this is how we celebrated last night at midnight when he got home:

Birthday carrot cake with lemon cream cheese frosting!  I know I won't win any cake decorating contests, but it tasted soooooo good.

I made the cake on Saturday, and then had to sit in the house by myself and NOT eat it.  For like 24 hours.  So instead of snitching a piece, I used it for a soapy inspiration:

And it's actually made with Carrot Cake and Lemon Cream Cheese Frosting scents, just like the real thing!

If you're drooling over the first picture, here's the recipe:

Birthday Carrot Cake


2 1/4 C. flour
2 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
4 eggs
2 C. sugar
1 1/2 C. grated carrot
3/4 C. vegetable oil
3/4 C. applesauce


Mix first 4 ingredients.  Beat eggs with sugar until fluffy.  Add carrots, applesauce and oil; mix well.  Add flour mixture and mix well.  Pour equal amounts into two 8" round pans and bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes.  Cool and frost with Cream Cheese Frosting.


Cream Cheese Frosting


9 oz. softened cream cheese
3/4 C. softened butter
6 3/4 C. powdered sugar
3 tsp. grated lemon peel
3 T. milk


Beat cream cheese and butter, then add lemon peel and powdered sugar.  Slowly add in milk until you reach desired consistency (you may need a little more or less milk, depending).

Soapy Inspiration- Summer on the Beach

Memorial Day is this weekend, and that means summer is here!  Warm, lazy days on the beach... how inspiring!

This is Washington Oaks Beach- one of many along the Florida coast.  What I loved most about it (besides the fact that we had the whole place to ourselves!) was all the shells!  I love to beach comb, and we spent hours here finding the perfect shells.

And so, in honor of summer, some soapy seashells:

The color of the ocean, and scented with a fragrance called Salty Mariner!

Soapy Inspiration- Indian Blanket

These are the latest wildflowers growing in these parts- they're called Firewheels, or Indian Blankets.

This photo gives you an idea of where they got their name- doesn't it look like a pretty blanket spread out over the grass?  (There's a few Indian Paintbrushes thrown in there, too.)

And so, they served as my soapy inspiration this week...

Since these flowers don't really have a scent to them, I used my very favorite Pomegranate fragrance instead...

Indian Blankets always remind me that summer is on her way!
